I became a client of HAC in January 2002. I would come in two or three times a week, sign up for a few classes, do my hour and leave. I never accomplished anything. I would look out the doors of the cardio rooms and watch clients with trainers doing different exercises; it looked just too intimating for me. I not only thought how expensive it would be, but I also thought it was for younger clients.

With osteoporosis running in my family and the weight creeping up I knew I had to do something about it real soon. One day I got the nerve to make a call and ask about personal training. Little did I know that it would make such a change in my life? I talked to Frank Borusiewicz and he explained to me the benefits of having a personal trainer.

I had no strength in any parts of my body and that hour working with Frank seemed like an eternity! As I struggled and groaned to lift that bar or do squats Frank kept telling me I could do it as he reached out with a helping hand. Each session with Frank became more challenging and I looked forward to what surprises he had in store for me. Frank gave me the confidence that I needed not only physically by achieving my weight loss goal, but also mentally by supporting me when I would want to give up. As I got down to my last few sessions with Frank his encouraging words finally sunk in and I thought to myself, "I really can do this!" I decided to sign up for more sessions and have since continued. The benefits of a personal trainer definitely outweigh the cost.

I have lost about 40 pounds, over 50 inches and still counting. My experience at HAC has helped me to change my outlook on fitness and make it a part of my everyday life. The staff always gives you a warm welcome, which makes you feel like part of a family.

I know with the help of Frank I will be able to reach my goal!

Fitness has always been a huge part of my life. I believe a healthy lifestyle directly contributes to one's mental and physical well being now, and for many years to come. HAC has, in many way helped me through years of success and happiness towards meeting my goals. Recently though, I felt I had reached a plateau in my fitness routine. After talking with personal trainer, Justin Noble, I decided that personal training sessions might be the solution to my problem. Today, I am so happy that I made that decision. I am in the best physical shape now than I have ever been. Justin has also given me the courage and strength to take myself to yet another level in fitness. For the first time this fall, I plan to compete in a fitness competition. I thank everyone at HAC for continuing to make fitness such an enjoyable, rewarding, and challenging experience.

Jenna Decker
Fitness is a journey, not a destination!

Jenna Decker joined Hatfield Athletic Club on February 25, 2003. Today, one year later, Jenna is 74 pounds and 84 inches smaller! Jenna has made a complete lifestyle change and can honestly say that she has never been happier or felt better than she does today! She was determined to make a change and remained focused and dedicated through the months to achieve her goals. Jenna strongly believes that her accomplishments were only as successful as her support team. The staff and trainers at HAC have become like a second family for Jenna. Their support and words of encouragement, along with her personal training sessions twice per week with Frank Borusiewicz has lead her to victory!!!

Today, Jenna's successes continue as she committed herself to the Team in Training, as a volunteer program of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Team in Training will participate in a June triathlon which will raise money for blood related cancer research and patient service programs. Just as the staff at Hatfield Athletic Club was her support team, with the Team in Training, Jenna will become a valuable member of a support team for thousands of cancer victims.

All of us from HAC want to congratulate Jenna on her success!!

I always thought that having a gym in your own home would be the best thing for working out. There would be no lines, no waiting, and no problems. Unfortunately, it is also the easiest thing to pass every day. It is too easy to make excuse. When I did work out, it didn’t seem that I was making any progress. I would do the same work out week after week. I would feel better, but I would not get the results that I was looking for. My wife was taking our children to the Kid Power Gym for camp last year and she kept telling me about the gym. She checked into a trainer for me and went ahead and scheduled an appointment for me. It was one of the best things she has ever done for me. The first time I met with Josh, I knew that this was the program for me. He is always motivating me in new ways. The routines are constantly changing so that they are refreshing and interesting. What started as a client/trainer relationship has now turned into a friendship beyond that. I now go to the gym five days a week and for the first time ever I visited the gym while on vacation at a resort. I would recommend to anyone who needs that extra push or variation of exercise, contact a trainer and set up an appointment and you too will find out that “I hate you” is a term of endearment to a trainer. In only five months I look and feel better than I have in years. I have more energy and look forward to going to the gym everyday.

I was so intimidated when I joined HAC that I declined my initial health assessment. I spent all of my time doing cardio and had no idea what to do for strength training. I saw the trainers working with clients every day; but considered this a service for "serious athletes" and an extravagance for someone like me. One day, in passing, Josh Rogers asked me if I had any questions. "How bad is it that I never do any strength training?" was my reply. We talked about signing me up for 5 sessions so that I could at least get comfortable with the equipment, etc. After two sessions I recognized the huge benefit of working with someone who is simultaneously applauding your efforts and raising the bar. The impact went far beyond performing the prescribed exercises; so, I doubled my sessions. It was a major investment to me and still is today. But, if HAC offered me my money back in exchange for the education, motivation, and measurable results Josh delivers, I wouldn't take it. How much academic or professional training can you say that about? I would rather give up my college degree than what I have gained in personal training, because with every rep the person I want to be gets stronger (literally) and her opposition (doubts, excuses, and inertia) dims. It's not just an investment I can justify, it's a lesson in doing whatever it takes that will serve my children forever. With HAC I have lost over 90 pounds, provided an active role model for my children, and conquered the obstacles that stood in my way.
